INTO THE SEEDS OF TIME
Solo exhibition
OMVED GARDENS
LONDON | 31.05.2025 - 03.08.2025
An exhibition presenting Vivienne’s work and her year-long residency at OmVed Gardens. The show combines films, paper sculptures, installations and Japanese ink paintings exploring the journey of beans from seed to harvest, their potential for human and planetary health and the influence of Japanese culture in Schadinsky’s work. The exhibition extended across all the new spaces, including the barn, the kitchen, the seed library, and the greenhouse.
OmVed Gardens is the London Action Hub for the Chef’s Manifesto. During the residency, three bean-based meals were developed — using beans observed on-site one created by OmVed’s head chef and two others by Chef’s Manifesto chefs to celebrate the power of beans. OmVed hosted the annual symposium, where chefs from 77 countries gathered to discuss food systems and climate action, with beans taking center stage.
Throughout the exhibition, OmVed’s kitchen served a range of bean-based meals prepared on site.
Visitors were invited to share their own bean recipes on specially designed cards. OmVed supports the UN WFP - The World Food Programme in transforming our food systems and advocating for climate action.
You can read more here and listen to interviews Vivienne conducted with her advisors during her residency.

Workshops
Vivienne led four specially devised Japanese ink workshops / sumi-e, each including exercises and techniques designed to help participants connect with the natural landscape, the seasons, and the surrounding climate on the day of the workshop. Herbal teas from the garden were served to deepen this connection.

Truffles only grow in a few regions in Italy and central Europe and the main reason for their decline is climate change. Without fungi, nutrients would not cycle through the ecosystem, causing the breakdown of the entire food chain.
