WHISPERS

ongoing project — paper sculptures

With Japanese paper Vivienne builds vessels from its delicate layers and brings in fragments of wood, leaves, seeds, and stones she gathers from the landscapes around her. They carry light, stillness, and the quiet energy of place.

This body of work first began to take shape after her artist residency at OmVed Gardens, while preparing for the exhibition Into the Seeds of Time. The vessels were informed by working in that fascinating landscape and hold fragments of what she felt during her time in the beautiful grounds of OmVed – and the deep connection to the natural world.

Inside them are traces of that experience: objects gathered and worked with such as wood, plants, beeswax, and bean seeds. They became containers of memory – a way of holding close the impressions and gifts that the land offered.

Vivienne is looking forward to seeing how this project unfolds when she engages with different landscapes. She uses varied approaches to connect with her natural surroundings, responding to the particular qualities of each place.

If you are an organisation or company interested in gaining a deeper insight into these approaches, and in exploring how they might resonate with your own context, please feel free to get in touch.
